Paul Lenart
One of Sonoton's most prolific composers, Paul Lenart has truly defined the Guitar sound of Blues, Folk, Country, Jazz, Funk, and Soul on the Sonoton label.
Paul Lenart has been playing the guitar professionally for over 35 years. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he spent his teen years learning and performing Balkan music with the Duquesne University Tamburitzan Orchestra.
He taught himself guitar while attending Columbia University, and started performing in New York City. In the late 1960s, his first recorded band, The Far Cry (Vanguard Apostolic Records) was part of the Bosstown Sound from Boston.
He then toured Europe with the American Folk Blues Festival as a member of T-Bone Walker and Big Mama Thornton's band, along with legends Memphis Slim, Big Joe Williams, and Robert Pete Williams. While living in Hollywood, he appeared on Keith Moon's (The Who) solo album, "Two Sides of the Moon". In the '70s, he was a member of the James Montgomery Band, and recorded with them at Alan Toussaint's Sea-Saint Studios in New Orleans. Paul is still active in the Boston area as a guitarist, session player and producer.
Over the last sixteen years, Paul has been writing and producing for the SONOTON Music Library, collaborating with such luminous writers as Billy Novick and Larry Luddecke. His music has appeared on such shows as The American Experience, Friends, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and Sex & the City, as well as numerous commercials, films, and productions.
